This will take patience. This living through a pandemic. We are now in the phase of hope, there is a vaccine now approved and making its way across the country. Feelings of restlessness with sheltering in place, wearing masks, keeping distance, not traveling must be harnessed or at least tolerated long enough for patience to emerge- a kind of trust in uncertainty and faith in the eventual reappearance of the good. Patience has echoes of the childhood games of peekaboo between children and mothers, or of the loving arms of an adoring mother who delights in the innocence of her child’s play.
